The residents of Huron are fortunate to have a weekly
farmer’s market. Each week, we are given the
opportunity to purchase fresh produce from the farmers themselves. It is easy to plan your meals around what is
in season. Today’s offerings included
lovely tomatoes, peppers, apples, nectarines, beans, eggplant, potatoes and
much more. In addition, the Huron Public
Library has food-related books that are available to be checked out. Take some time to talk to the people who grow
the food you are about to consume. They
might just convince you to try something unexpected or provide you with a
recipe. The farmer’s market, which is
held on Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 PM at the Boat Basin parking lot, will continue until October 23.
Here is a great recipe for eggplant in case you were
considering purchasing a purple beauty or have some in your own garden! http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/eggplant-goat-cheese-sandwiches-10000001924697/
