Jennifer Lynn (Steinmetz) Schenk

Jennifer Lynn (Steinmetz) Schenk, 51, of Huron, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, in her residence following a lengthy but brave battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of Carol (Cronk) Steinmetz and the late Allen Steinmetz.
Jenny is survived by her mother, Carol Steinmetz; two sisters, Susan Steinmetz and Brigid Steinmetz; nine brothers, Stephen (Candy) Steinmetz, Thomas (Jill) Steinmetz, Patrick (Julie) Steinmetz, Christopher Steinmetz, Ted Steinmetz, Jon Steinmetz, Brian (JoAnn) Steinmetz, Vincent Steinmetz, and James (Candi) Steinmetz, all of Huron. She is also survived by several step-children, and 13 loving nieces and nephews.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Schenk Jr.; father, Allen Steinmetz; infant brother, William Jude Steinmetz; fraternal grandparents, Harvey and Gladys Steinmetz of Pompano, Fla.; and her maternal grandparents, Rollin and Carrie Cronk of Sandusky.
She was employed as the food and beverage manager for seven years at the Brown Derby Roadhouse. She also took on many responsibilities as a general laborer at LEAR – IAC for 20 years. She invested a lot of time and money working for numerous local festivals. Jenny was a huge lover of animals and always had three or four dogs by her side. She gave generously to all causes for animals and took in many strays.
Many who knew her would describe Jenny has having a heart of gold. Her generosity and overall love of people was well known. She also had a beautiful singing voice. Jenny touched the lives of many people and her caring personality will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 10 am. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
